A terrifying Hollywood crime story is brought to light as TNT presents the finale to I Am The Night with, Episode 6: Queen’s Gambit, Accepted, starring Chris Pine and India Eisley. Based on a true story, director Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) takes a trip back to the 1960s past, investigating the legendary Black Dahlia murder.
The last time we saw them, George Hodel (Jefferson Mays) stabbed Fauna’s mother before he could find her. Jay Singletary (Chis Pine) found himself locked in a jail cell, arrested by the police. A serial killer has been recreating murders based on famous paintings and all of the clues point back to Fauna Hodel (Eisley).
Elsewhere, Fauna hears about the news of her mother’s stabbing. During the riots on the streets, she ends up paying a visit to Corinna Hodel (Connie Nielsen). Unfortunately, Corinna uses this opportunity to drug Fauna’s drink.
Taking a police beating, Jay warns Bills (Yul Vazquez) who he is in league with. Jay wants Bills to start acting like a cop and stop working for a mafia boss/pedophile. Bills gives Jay another thrashing after he says he has the evidence to bring down George Hodel.
After waking up, Fauna ends up face-to-face with George Hodel. Still weak from the drugging, Fauna is too weak to run. She even ends up bumping into Bills but he refuses to help her leave the premises.
Jay discovers the only way out is to incriminate himself. After leaving his fingerprints on a knife, Jay is given the opportunity to escape. Bills gives Jay the key to his handcuffs before he is transported to prison.
During the long drive, Jay knocks out the driver and the other police officers. After the car crash, he grabs one of their guns before walking away. He intends to use the gun and kill George Hodel.
George leads Fauna down to the basement, where his artist’s workshop is. He already has a painting he wants to recreate. Fauna dresses up for him, but she has the light bulb to hit him with.
After beating George and breaking his leg, Fauna has the gun pointed at his face. She realizes she doesn’t want to know if she really is his daughter; she’s Jimmy Lee’s daughter. Fauna tells George that he’s boring and leaves the workshop.
Jay finally arrives at George Hodel’s estate and finds Fauna, bloody but alive. He wants to kill George but he’s nowhere to be found. After trashing the workshop, Jay and Fauna leave, share one more time together, before he has to leave town.
While George Hodel is on the run, Fauna makes peace with Jimmy Lee (Golden Brooks) at the hospital. A fugitive on the run, Jay looks at the sunset as he disappears while surfing. Fauna realizes Jay saved her life and he helped her choose the face she wants to be.
I Am The Night ends with A 2015 picture of Fauna with her two daughters.
