WGN America has acquired the international crime/police thriller, 100 Code, starring two charismatic leads, Dominic Monaghan and Michael Nyqvist. The upcoming WGN drama is produced by 100 Code AB & Zen Productions, in association with Fabrik Entertainment, Red Arrow International, and Strix Drama for Kanal 5 and Sky Deutschland.

100 Code opens with the bodies of young, blonde and blue-eyed women found dead in fields of flowers, NYPD Detective Tommy Conley (Dominic Monaghan) is now being permitted to observe and advise the Stockholm PD.  In Sweden, Tommy is paired with Mikael Eklund (Michael Nyqvist) a by-the-book Swedish cop. Both hate each other, but the two are quickly forced to resolve their differences when they realize the mysterious killings may be committed by the same murderer.

Here are 5 reasons why we’re excited for 100 Code on WGN America:

5) Charlie!

I know Dominic Monaghan was in Lord of the Rings but to me, he will always be the reformed rocker Charlie Pace on Lost! As Charlie, Monaghan demonstrated his range, from comedy to drama! Oh his last scene on Lost gave me the feels! (Not Penny’s boat!) I can’t wait to see what Monaghan brings to the show as Tommy Conley!

4) Michael Nyqvist!

You have to admit the late Michael Nyqvist was one helluva tough dude! Nyqvist beat the crap out of Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Keanu Reeves in John Wick! There’s no better way to honor The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo actor than to tune to the show!

3) Bobby Moresco!

100 Code is developed by Bobby Moresco, who is responsible for producing the critically acclaimed films, Crash and Million Dollar Baby. He’s also responsible for writing, producing and directing my favorite series, The Black Donnellys.

2) A Police Procedural With A Twist!

Are Tommy and Mikael chasing after the same perp? Or are they chasing after a copycat serial killer! I love how the trailer points out that the story for 12 episode miniseries event could go in either direction!

1) The Best Crime Lineups On WGN!

“WGN America continues to deliver one of the best crime lineups in television,” said Gavin Harvey, President of WGN America to Deadline. “These four new original series build upon our strong slate of compelling programming that offers nonstop mystery, thrills and suspense for the growing number of fans of the crime genre.”

Distributed worldwide by Red Arrow International, 100 Code is scheduled to air on WGN America in 2018.
