Before its highly anticipated theatrical release date, Amazon Studios and K Period Media have announced Suspiria will be R-Rated; a major victory for true horror fans. Based on the cult masterpiece from Dario Argento, the A-list cast includes Dakota Johnson, Mia Goth, Chloë Grace Moretz, Tilda Swinton, and marks the return of the original starlet, Jessica Harper.

As we previously mentioned, darkness has been building at the center of a world-renowned dance company. Its artistic director (Swinton), a young American new to the troupe named Susie Bannion (Johnson), and a grieving psychotherapist (Lutz Ebersdorf) become entangled in director Luca Guadagnino’s bloody nightmare.

Here are 5 reasons why we love the R-rating for Suspiria:

5) Rated R!

According to The Wrap, the Suspiria remake has landed a very hard R rating by the MPAA. In order to get an R-rating, the movie needs “disturbing content involving ritualistic violence, bloody images and graphic nudity, and for some language including sexual references.”

4) No PG-13 Rating!

I don’t know about you, but I am getting very tired of PG-13 horror. I think that’s why I wasn’t a big fan of A Quiet Place, starring John Krisinski and Emily Blunt, another PG-13 thriller. The PG-13 snooze-fest rating cuts the good stuff out for the marketed teen audience, who’ve seen more blood on their social media feeds!

3) It’s The Director’s Vision!

I’m not a fan of directors making two versions, the PG-13 safe mode and the R-Rating version. How come I have to wait till the Blu-Ray comes out for an unrated version!?! Looks like director Luca Guadagnino only had one version in mind for the audiences.

2) The Good Stuff!

Reacting to the ultra-violent clip shown at CinemaCon, Los Angeles Times critic Amy Kaufman tweeted, “The woman’s body literally cracks in half. She is like, torn apart. Spitting, urinating, bleeding. It’s… A lot.” Damn right!!!

1) It’s Pretty Accurate!

Have you seen the trailer? It’s freaky as hell and I love it!

Suspiria arrives in theaters on November 2nd, 2018.
