5) What Happened Before!
As we previously mentioned, Dick Tracy made the biggest collar of his career. Unfortunately, being a good cop cost him his job. Now, the honest cop has packed his bags to make a new life or himself by “the city by the lake.” Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, Tracy has to prove his innocence in a corrupt city.
4) The Writing!
With Michael Allred and Lee Allred on writing duties, they reignite the story with Tess Trueheart’s feisty attitude. A neat twist on the undercover cop genre, don’t you care call Tess a love interest, a sidekick, or a partner. Letterer Shawn Lee captures so much witty energy in the banter between Tess and Tracy.
3) The Artwork!
The pencils by Rich Tommaso does a great job with Tess’ disguises and wigs. Tess power-walks into the page, whether she’s a natural blonde or a redhead in disguise The inks from Mike Allred add weight to the quick-paced shootouts and police chase.
2) The Colors!
Colorist Laura Allred brings a vivid palette to Tess’ wardrobe. Tess stands out in the page because of her green dress and blue eyes. You can’t take your eyes of Tracy during the rooftop chase because of the striking yellow tones from his trench coat.
