USA Network continues Season 8 of the popular lawyer drama, Suits, starring Gabriel Macht and Katherine Heigl, with Episode 3: Promises, Promises. Now that Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) has left the firm, is lawyer Harvey Specter (Macht) ready to get back and take on new court cases?
Harvey is starting to feel the loss of Mike Ross when a cleaning lady is fired. The cleaning lady has not been paid her full amount. Harvey knows this innocent woman needs help, but he cannot go up against the firm’s landlord. Harvey even makes his way back to Mike’s former clinic, but he’s no hero like Mike.
Donna (Sarah Rafferty) arrives at the meeting with Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce), Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), and Harvey. Donna watches Louis argue that he wants to the fight against the firm’s landlord. Because their firm could be forced out of the building, Donna sides with Robert and Louis.
Alex (Dule Hill) learns the real truth behind Samantha (Heigl) and her previous client, After Alex gets the painting, the client then wants him to illegally launder the money he raised. The client promises there will be consequences if Alex doesn’t launder the money.
Just as Samantha is leaving the building, Alex confronts her about the truth. The client may have committed murder, and Robert even knows about his criminal side. From Samantha’s advice, Alex finds a way to wiggle out of his deal and use the client’s family to his advantage.
Katrina Bennet (Amanda Schull) has been getting migraines, which which forces her to miss her court date. Brian (Jake Epstein) has to fill in for her but he manages to anger the client. When Louis hears of this fiasco, Brian bites the bullet and takes the blame for Katrina.
Refusing to let Brian take the fall, Katrina reveals the truth to Louis. She’s been getting migraines since taking on more responsibilities. She’s afraid the migraines are a sign of weakness. Louis reassures her that she has everything that could make her Senior Partner.
Harvey realizes, “What would Mike do?” With the information Harvey gathered, Donna heads out to meet with the firm’s landlord. Hire back the woman he fired and Harvey offers a year of consultation for free, Donna demands. She power walks out of that meeting after getting the upper-hand.
Alex attempts to make peace with Samantha at the end of the day. Unfortunately, they can never be friends. Samantha decides right then and there to tell him the truth.
Samantha reveals to Alex about her deal with Robert Zane. At the end of the year, her name will be up on the wall, not his. And there’s nothing he can do about it…
