With one episode to go, Showtime continues Twin Peaks: The Return with the latest nostalgic shocker, Episode 17: The Past Dictates The Future. In the seventeenth episode, original stars, Kyle MacLachlan and Mädchen Amick, reunite along with new faces in the continuation of David Lynch’s mystery/crime drama.

After Dale Cooper (MacLachlan) woke up from his coma at the hospital, Evil Dale heads out to the coordinates and finds himself in the woods. Evil Dale finds himself in the same spot where Andy and the others found the blind woman. Evil Dale is transported from Major Briggs’ prison and lands in front of Twin Peaks Police Station.

Director Gordon Cole (Lynch) reveals to FBI agents Albert Rosenfeld (Miguel Ferrer) and Tammy Preston (Chrysta Bell) about the meaning behind Judy, an evil supernatural entity. At that moment,Gordon gets a call from Dougie’s boss and discovers where Dale is headed. They all have to go to Twin Peaks Police Station.

Bradley (Jim Belushi) and Bobby Mitchum (Robert Knepper) are in the same car with Dale as they enter Twin Peaks. Deputy Andy Brennan (Harry Goaz), and Lucy (Kimmy Robertson) are the first ones to greet Evil Dale. Sheriff Frank Truman (Robert Forster) knows something is odd with Evil Dale when he first meets him.

All of a sudden, Andy gets a vision of the future. He knows Lucy is integral in the final battle and keeps her by the phone. She’s the first to realize Evil Dale isn’t who he says he is. While the Blind Woman senses Evil Dale in the police station, Chad makes a break for it.

Just when Chad thinks he has the drop on Andy, James Hurley (James Marshall)’s friend intervenes. His friend uses his green iron fist to take down Chad. Andy has to bring everybody to Sherif Truman’s office.

Truman then gets the call from the real Dale Cooper. Truman and Evil Dale are about ready to shoot each other, when Lucy fires first. Evil Dale lies dead on the floor when the Homeless Men arrive to resurrect him.

This time around, the Homeless Men unleash Bob onto the others. Cooper arrives just in time to tell James’ friend what to do. James’ friend uses his green iron fist to send Bob back to Hell. The Blind Woman was really Diane (Laura Dern) the entire time.

Gordon, Albert, and Tammy arrive to witness Evil dale being sent back to the Black Lodge. Cooper knows he still has one last mission to complete. He asks Philip Jeffries (David Bowie) to send him back to the night Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) died.

Cooper attempts to change a fixed point in time and ends up losing the soul of Laura Palmer.

Twin Peaks: The Return continues Sundays at 9pm on Showtime.
