An emotionally and psychologically charged horror story from Image Comics, Wytches: Bad Egg Halloween Special (One-Shot) will definitely creep out readers! Not only does this one-shot special work as a stand-alone story for new readers, this prequel leads to the second volume of Wytches.

Seb and Jackson—two innocent teenagers reared on opposite sides of the eternal struggle between good and evil. Sebastian’s mother is a member of “The Irons,” the most ruthless Wytch hunters in history, while Jackson’s family are “High Horn” Wytches. Can these two boys find friendship amidst this age-old blood feud, or are their fates already sealed?

Here are 5 reasons you should read Wytches: Bad Egg Halloween Special (One-Shot):

5) The Writing!

Writer Scott Snyder brings so much heart into the relationship between Seb and Jackson. Questioning the role of adulthood, Synder blurs the line between reality and dark fantasy. Letterer Clem Robins captures Seb’s internal and naively yearning to be be accepted and be loved.

4) The Artwork!

Artist Jock captures the emotional scope in such tight facial expressions. This could have easily been a simple tale about sinister children. Jock’s illustrations reflect the dark corners of American suburbia and dissects the layers behind the nuclear family.

3) The Colors!

Colorist Matt Hollingsworth has a stylish and vivid palette that makes each panel strike out. Notice how the green tones really stand out in the opening pages. Notice how there is an optical effect that really does wonders when the horror strikes.

2) The Extras!

Synder provides an introduction and epilogue in the bonus material. Jock adds a few black and white sketches to demonstrate the work in progress.

1) A Unforgettable Read!

Done with ambitious energy, Wytches: Bad Egg Halloween Special (One-Shot) delivers unsettling horror to the max! Bad Egg will truly haunt you once you’ve finished reading.

Wytches: Bad Egg Halloween Special (One-Shot) arrives in stores on October 31st, 2018.
