With snappy dialogue between its odd couple superhero team, Quantum + Woody! #6 (Valiant Entertainment) delivers a solidly entertaining reading experience. It’s amazing what the Quantum + Woody series can do with two cantankerous and charismatic protagonists!
In the ultimate display of power, Livewire has plunged the United States into darkness. Previously, the mad scientist, Nicky Greenblatt-Tesla III aka Kid Tesla, orchestrated Quantum and Woody’s falling out. This issue is the start of a new story arc, which also series as the perfect entry point for new readers. it is also a tie-in to the crossover events in Harbinger Wars 2.
4) The Writing!
Writer Eliot Rahal understands that what makes Quantum and Woody work is their brotherly chemistry. Quantum and Woody don’t always see eye-to-eye and constantly butt heads, like brothers really do. Letterer Dave Sharpe emphasizes the emotional points; why they believe in helping others. Both strive to be their own heroes as they attempt to save the innocent lives inside a burning building.
3) The Artwork!
Right from the first page, Artist Francis Portela lets the reader feel like they’re in the middle of a high-stakes blockbuster. In an eye-catching one-pager, Portela captures the burning flames on each floor. We see what each brother is doing in an inventive use of split-screen.
2) The Colors!
Notice how colorist Andrew Dalhouse uses the flames as light source. The searing red flames reflect off Quantum’s blue and white costume. Notice how there is a blue hue glowing around the two brothers during their fiery adventure, which foreshadows the deus ex machina conclusion.

A fast-paced read, Quantum + Woody! #6 is great fun with such a likable cast! I can’t wait to see what happens next in the Quantum and Woody series.
