A thrilling re-imagination of Arthurian legends, Sword of Ages #5 (IDW Publishing) concludes its first story arc with such sweeping action and uncanny visuals. The fifth installment of Sword of Ages ends on a satisfying note and promises a much bigger world.

As we previously mentioned, this is an all-new vision of the Excalibur myth. Witness the beginning of the end Avalon and her companions must face off against the combined might of the Red Clan and the Templar Order!

Here are 5 reasons why you should pick up Sword of Ages #5:

5) The Epic Story Continues!

The first installment introduced young warrior known as Avalon, who was sent on a quest to find the Lady of the Lake and retrieve the Sacred Sword. Unfortunately, the sword refuses to be drawn until needed. Avalon cannot stand behind and watch as the citadel of Caledia is under siege.

4) World-Building At Its Best!

Writer/artist Gabriel Rodriguez fills each gorgeous panel with his characters in battle. In the opening pages, Avalon is riding into battle, with sword in hand, on top of a giant saber-toothed tiger. Notice how there is so much detail in the character design as enemies and allies start attacking. Letterer Robbie Robbins keeps the dialogue flowing during the fighting.

3) The Colors!

Colorist Lovern Kindzierski makes sure readers understand that war is bloody. Red is a major color that stands in the pages. Because the red hue is important, notice how the green tones stand out when Avalon battles with the Black Knight.

2) Bonus Material!

In the bonus pages, Rodriguez discusses his future plans for Sword of Ages. In keeping with Arthurian themes, it will come down to, What makes a good leader? I’m really looking forward to the return of Sword of Ages.

1) A Fantastic Read!

Overall, Sword of Ages #5 does an impressive job of concluding its first arc! I’ve loved every issue of the Sword of Ages series so far!
