Marvel and Walt Disney Studios have provided a first look at Black Panther with a two-minute teaser trailer. During the NBA Finals, audiences were teased with the official poster and footage from the action/adventure film starring the Marvel superhero played by Chadwick Boseman.

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home to Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. Before he can sit on the throne, T’Challa is challenged from factions within his own country. When two enemies conspire to destroy Wakanda, Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, the Wakanadan special forces. They have to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

Check out our 5 thoughts on the Black Panther teaser trailer!

5. The Hobbit Reunion

Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) returns as Ulysses Klaue after showing up in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Martin Freeman continues using an American accent for his reprisal of Everett Ross. The Hobbit stars have a face-to-face confrontation finally without the CGI in-between.

4. Wakanda

The Kingdom of Wakanda was revealed in the end credit scene from Captan America: Civil War. The technologically advanced African nation has been in hiding for centuries, but now outside forces have discovered its exact location. Notice how the wardrobe is a mixture of past and future; there’s even a flying spaceship!

3. Legend Has It

If the music for the trailer sounds familiar, that’s because the beats and lyrics belong to Run The Jewels’ “Legend Has It.” If you have seen Iron Fist on Netflix, then you heard another song from  RTJ. “Blockbuster Night (Part 1)” was played during Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick)’s cage-fight match. According to Pitchfork,  Marvel did a mashup with the group for one of their Black Panther covers.

2.The Ensemble Cast

In the comics, Killmonger is the arch-nemesis of Black Panther and will be played by Michael B. Jordan (The Wire).  Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave) has been cast as Nakia aka Malice.  Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead) makes an appearance as Okoye, a member of Wakanda’s bodyguard force.

1. That Flip!

It seems like there has to be some kind of ridiculous car crash in these Marvel movies! In slow-motion, Black Panther jumps off the spinning car and leaps across the street while the vehicle explodes right behind him. Director Ryan Coogler (Creed) definitely marks each scene with flash and style!

Black Panther arrives in theaters everywhere February 16, 2018.
